Nissan made headlines at this year’s auto show in New York by hinting at big things for the future of the powerful speed demon. Speaking at the show, Nissan North America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing Jose Munoz teased attendees by saying “… stay tuned later this year for news that will electrify our legions of GT-R fans worldwide” – seemingly hinting at a hybrid system for future iterations of the GT-R. Sources within the automotive industry have long hinted that the GT-R of the future would receive a hybrid powertrain – speculation that appears ever-more likely given that Nissan will run an electric car with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System next year at Le Mans.
